Who I Am

Hello, I am Carolie Atherton, MSW, LCSW. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, based in North Carolina, with over 30 years of experience. I am dedicated to helping people find calm, clarity, and connection in their lives. I am married, and a mother to adult children. I grew up an Army brat, moving every few years.

I provide individual therapy for teens through senior adults, who are navigating anxiety, grief, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My approach is warm and collaborative, and rooted in the belief that healing happens in the context of a safe, authentic relationship.

My therapeutic approach is eclectic and individualized according to need. I utilize therapy interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
